BGP Consulting Partner Vladislav Rikov Attends Monaco Yacht Show
Vladislav Rikov, a Transport and Asset Finance Partner at BGP Consulting, attended the Monaco Yacht Show – one of the premier international yachting exhibitions, which annually brings together shipowners, family office representatives, financial advisors, and other key industry professionals.
Alongside new project presentations, the show serves as a traditional platform for discussing topical issues relating to the structuring, financing, and operation of high-value assets, as well as legal risk mitigation strategies.
During the event, market participants paid particular attention to several industry trends. Notably, the emergence of the Blue Wake programme was a key topic of discussion. Experts also highlighted a decline in demand for megayachts exceeding 100 metres in length, with the majority of this year's exposition occupied by yachts in the 65-metre-plus range. Interest in explorer yachts – long-range luxury vessels specifically designed for extended cruising in diverse weather conditions and remote regions – continues to grow.
Particular focus was placed on the legal framework governing pleasure yachts. Attendees discussed the increasing frequency of incidents involving the liability of yacht guests and the recognition of guests staying on board without the owner as parties to legal relationships. Potential risk mitigation tools under consideration included a variety of operational models, such as intra-European leasing structures (including the Maltese leasing scheme and similar arrangements), and operational management mechanisms.
Traditionally, the Monaco Yacht Show's agenda extends beyond the yachting industry. The event attracts leading business jet manufacturers, technology companies, and supercar producers, positioning it as one of the key global forums for discussing the management and financing of high-value private assets.
